Position description

Job description

The Cooling Systems Engineering Lead is responsible for the technical ownership of electric pumps, valves, and Thermal Management Modules (TMM) within vehicle thermal management architectures for conventional and electrified vehicles.
The role provides technical leadership across development phases, ensuring component and system performance, robustness, and integration within multi-loop thermal systems. The Engineering Lead acts as the primary technical reference for assigned components across vehicle programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Technical ownership
• Serve as the technical reference for electric coolant pumps, valve systems, and thermal management modules across vehicle platforms.
• Define and maintain component-level and system-level technical requirements.
• Support design decisions, trade-off analyses, and architectural choices within the thermal system.
2. Component and System Development
• Support the design, development, and validation of thermal components in collaboration with internal teams and suppliers.
• Ensure performance, durability, efficiency, and manufacturability targets are achieved.
• Contribute to DFMEA, design reviews, and validation planning.
3. Standards and Documentation
• Develop, maintain, and improve engineering standards, specifications, and guidelines related to pumps, valves, and thermal modules.
• Support the alignment of supplier technical documentation with internal engineering standards.
4. Issue Resolution and Problem Solving
• Provide technical support during all development phases, from concept to production and field issues.
• Analyze system behavior and interactions within cooling loops, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
• Support performance optimization activities related to flow control, energy efficiency, and thermal response.
5. Cross-Functional Integration
• Collaborate with:
o HVAC and refrigerant system teams
o Battery thermal management teams
o EDU and power electronics cooling teams
o Controls and software teams
o Simulation, vehicle integration, and validation teams
• Ensure proper integration of thermal components into the overall Vehicle Thermal Management strategy.
