Description de la mission

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Battery Cell Electrode Engineer. As Electrode Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the internal cell design for various disruptive technologies and next generation battery cells. You will be responsible for designing, building, and testing prototype battery cells, as well as optimizing their performance for automotive applications. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the advancements of Stellantis electrification efforts.

MISSION
Assess the disruptive technologies in cell electrochemistry for automotive application from the technical performance points of view
Lead relationships with different partners (academics, startups, cell manufacturers, material providers)
Build and disseminate the mid and long terms roadmaps for cell electrochemistry technologies and designs

ISSUES
Understand, capitalize and disseminate the fundamentals of cell electrochemistry and various disruptive technologies
Scout, analyze and assess promising technologies or concepts from various sources via contracts or investments strategies (press, media, scientific publications, congress, ventures, direct contacts with suppliers, startups or academic partners)
Evaluate internal cell design with dedicated experimental and/or numerical methodologies and tools, especially anode designs
Evaluate new cell materials and dedicated experimental and/or numerical methodologies and tools, especially anode materials
Evaluate new processes for cell design dedicated experimental and/or numerical methodologies and tools, especially anode processes
Assist the technologies thanks to the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) evaluations with requiring performances assessment in virtual testing of proposed cells
Build a set of requirements for an external cell maker, especially for anode materials design and process
Participate to innovation projects that gathers all skills to design innovative cells designs
Participate to mid and long terms roadmaps for cell electrochemistry in accordance with the internal expertise networks

ENVIRONMENT
To exchange and validate its results with technical advanced and core teams, raw materials purchasing department, expertise network and project stakeholders
To capitalize tools, models and methods with team partners

RESULTS
TRL assessments including LCA assessments
Cost analysis
Internal cell models and tools required for assessments
Technologies roadmaps with tiers #1 and #2 partner screenings

ACTIVITIES TO ACHIEVE RESULTS
Design tool and models for cell internal design and related new technologies assessment
Write scientific papers and patents
Manage partners relationships
Propose and execute contracts with industrial and academic partners
Gather and synthesize information from several sources
Process the TRL gates (including LCA and cost) and deliver in time
Cells internal design, building and experimental and virtual testing

Profil

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree Materials Engineering or Electrochemistry Engineering
- Minimum 3 years working experience in the battery energy storage area.
- Knowledge in battery pack design, electrochemistry, thermal management, battery cell, and electrical energy storage.
- Excellent interpersonal skill to work in cross functional and multi-cultural team environment.


Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Materials Engineering or Electrochemistry
- Proven experience in electrochemistry modelization and cell internal design tools
- Experience to provide technical guidance and direction during supplier technical reviews.
- Proven experience in designing and building lithium-ion battery materials and electrodes.
- 5 years' experience in Research or Advanced Engineering area
